Entropy of Eye Fixations: a Tool for Evaluation of Learning Objects
نویسندگان
چکیده
Learning objects (LOs) are important information resources that support traditional learning methods. To evaluate the impact, effectiveness, and usefulness of learning objects it is necessary a theoretically, reliable, and valid evaluation tool. This paper presents a metric to compare the design of LOs, it uses the information provided by visual fixations measured from a small focus group. We conducted an experiment with children of elementary school (n=23). Results showed that images with higher values of the proposed metric were faster to read (Mean = 0.629 min/image) than those images of LO selected randomly (Mean = 0.782 min/image). The metric is useful to optimize the fluency, this is an important step through obtain a fully automated tool to evaluate LOs.

Casimir effects of nano objects in fluctuating scalar and electromagnetic fields: Thermodynamic investigating
Casimir entropy is an important aspect of casimir effect and at the nanoscale is visible. In this paper, we employ the path integral method to obtain a general relation for casimir entropy and internal energy of arbitrary shaped objects in the presence of two, three and four dimension scalar fields and the electromagnetic field. For this purpose, using Lagrangian and based on a perturb...
متن کاملOculomotor behavior and perceptual strategies in complex tasks
While we know a great deal about the dynamics and characteristics of eye movements in relatively simple tasks performed under reduced laboratory conditions, we know less about oculomotor behavior in complex, multi-step tasks. Complex tasks are not necessarily difficult. Part of the transition from 'hard' to 'easy' in completing complex tasks is the gradual reduction in conscious effort required...
متن کاملChronic Pain and Selective Attention to Pain Arousing Daily Activity Pictures: Evidence From an Eye Tracking Study
Introduction: According to the pain research literature, attentional bias for pain is the mechanism responsible for the development and maintenance of fear of pain in patients with chronic pain. However, there is still some debate about the exact mechanism and the role of faster engagement versus difficulty in disengagement in the development of attentional bias. Methods: To investigate ...
متن کاملAttention in Low Resolution: Learning Proto-Object Representations with a Deep Network.
While previous researches in eye fixation prediction typically rely on integrating low-level features (e.g. color, edge) to form a saliency map, recently it has been found that the structural organization of these features into perceptual objects (proto-objects) can play a significant role, and many times more important than low-level features. In this work, we presented a computational framewo...
متن کاملEvaluation of Attention Bias in Morphine and Methamphetamine Abusers towards Emotional Scenes during Early Abstinence: An Eye-Tracking Study
Introduction: We hypothesized that inappropriate attention during the period of abstinence in individuals with substance use disorder can result in an inadequate perception of emotion and unsuitable reaction to emotional scenes. The main aim of this research was to evaluate the attentional bias towards emotional images in former substance abusers and compare it to healthy adults. Methods:...
